Do You Have Your Elevator Pitch Ready?
by Yasmine Moulin
An elevator pitch whether in an actual elevator or on social media can be a powerful tool for marketing your business.
Here are six tips for making your elevator pitch engaging.
Keep It Short
An elevator pitch should be about 60 seconds to deliver or approx. 150-250 words.
No Jargon
Be friendly and professional. Assume your audience has no understanding of your kind of business, services and products you sell. Use plain and clear language. Make sure it flows and sounds conversational.
Memorize and Practice
Learn it by heart. Practice, practice, practice. Deliver it naturally.
Show Your Passion
You want your elevator pitch to be memorable, unique and engaging. A speech that leads to further conversation. If you’re not passionate about what you do, no one else will be.
Create Different Versions
Create a few different versions ahead of time to fit any audience.
What Is Your Desired Action
Include a call to action at the end of your elevator pitch e.g. opportunity to ask you questions, introducing you to a colleague, scheduling a time to talk in more detail.
FYI – I clocked it at exactly 60 seconds! ⏱😀
